Message from Council Member Edward P. Burroughs III

Standing with Our Federal Workforce

Prince George’s County is home to thousands of federal employees and contractors who serve our nation with dedication and pride. When the 2025 DOGE-related furloughs and workforce reductions began impacting families in our community, I knew we needed to step up.

That’s why I have committed $1 million in District 8 Local Impact Grant funding to create the Federal Worker Support Fund, in partnership with the 100 Black Men of Prince George’s County. This effort provides direct assistance to residents who have been furloughed or otherwise affected, helping families stay stable while navigating this difficult period.

While we cannot solve every challenge brought by federal workforce cuts, we can ensure that our neighbors know their local government stands with them in solidarity and action.

I’m deeply grateful to the 100 Black Men of Prince George’s County for partnering with us on this initiative and for their continued dedication to service and empowerment.

To every federal worker and contractor in District 8: thank you for your service to our country. We see you, we value you, and we’re here to support you.

With gratitude and resolve,

Edward P. Burroughs III
